Ms. Karabey is the Chief Executive of ilka Consulting, Engineering, Mining Ltd Co., an Ankara, Turkey–based consulting, engineering and mining firm, which was founded in October 2006. She has over 18 years of professional experience at Turkish Subsidiaries of Canadian, Australian, and American mining companies operating in Turkey.

Positions held by Ms. Karabey include ten years at Cominco Mining Turkey as Land Department Manager; and seven years at the head office of the Ovacik Gold Mine, owned successively by the Eurogold Joint Venture, Normandy Mining Company, and Newmont Gold Company, as Coordinator responsible for Government Relations, Public Relations (PR), Lobbying, Permitting, and Legal issues of the companies. As a member of the management team, she acted as coordinator for conflict resolution and helped take the first Turkish gold mine into operation between the years 1998 and 2005. Lastly, she was Legal Coordinator for Turkish gold company Koza Altin, which now operates the Ovacik Mine

She was a member of the Newmont International Community Relations/Social Development (CR/SD) Team between the years 2002 and 2005.

Ms. Karabey has extensive experience and knowledge in managing permitting issues from relevant government authorities according to laws and regulations.

Ms. Karabey has excellent experience in PR Activities, particularly in the preparation and delivery of presentations regarding gold mining to the individuals and groups at universities, to the media, and to government organizations.

She is a member of METU Alumni Society-European Union Commission, Independent Professionals Organization, Turkish Women Association, Turkish Education Society, METU Alumni Society, and Chamber of Geological Engineers of Turkey.

She has “Project Cycle Management” attendance certificate given by DELEEUW International, Middle East Technical University (METU) Alumni Society-Ankara on February 2006.

Ms. Karabey has Bachelors of Science degree in Geological Engineering and an Executive MBA degree, both from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. She graduated in the first 5 ranking from Executive MBA program with honours.
